Bertolini designed a Fortuny style duvet cover and check dust ruffle

Our latest interior decorating assignment was for a client’s country home. This client is a serious collector of international and american artifacts, including antique fabrics, carpets, furniture and architectural elements. Our assignment was to redecorate a guest bedroom. The challenge was to integrate the sophisticated collections in this room without having the room seem too sophisticated. The look should be “country chic and elegant”. After all, this is a New England country home. The bed is American four-poster. The headboard an elaborately carved Thai roof eave. The wall were recently painted in Farrow & Ball Skylight, a pale blue. A framed 18th century silk fabric remnent is to the left of the bed. We used a peach Fortuny style linen and cotton from Vervain for the duvet cover and shams, and a small check in a complimentary color from Michael’s Textiles, for the bed skirt. The windows were dressed with Vintage Swiss Tambours. A small love seat was upholstered to match the duvet cover.
